A Graphics Standards Manual, sometimes called a Style Guide or Identity Manual, can be very extensive, or a single sheet depending upon purpose, need and the extent of control your organization wishes
to impose on graphic designers and other suppliers.
At the least, it should provide guidelines for usage of your logo so a consistency can be established and maintained.
At its most elaborate, the manual can dictate style elements such as color, type fonts, illustration types, size and format of literature. Literature templates may be included so that materials such
as a newsletter or data sheets can be created without the need for a graphic designer. A system of grids may be specified for designers and novice literature developers alike to follow so that a “family” of
materials will bear a common appearance.
A Graphics Standards Manual will provide a means to be consistent and professional in your communications no matter how far removed employees and suppliers might be from your “logo police” in distance
and time.
Following are are sample pages from several different manuals created by Signature Strategies.
